Starting or Purchasing a new business?
All entities doing business in the City of Chicago must have a business license. Depending on the type and nature of the business, more than one license may be necessary. For example, a restaurant that also has a bar will need food service license as well as a liquor license. So, step one of my service is to meet or confer with the client to learn the full nature and scope of the business.
At this meeting we will ascertain all the necessary information needed to proceed with a business application. I will require a full description of the business which includes the structure (Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, LLC, or Corporation) as well identifiers such as the businesses physical address, phone numbers, fax number, and email addresses of all parties involved. Some business will also need to provide copies of professional licenses that are held by all employees.
Next, I will need certificates of insurance and tax ID numbers. If you don't have your tax ID numbers I can assist you in obtaining them. We will need them before we can proceed.
Once all this information is compiled I will then request a meeting with a Department of Business Affairs Consultant to file the information and then obtain approval from the Department of Zoning.
The last step is to pay your licensing fees and receive your business license.
